Mentioned in Guy Gulp's page, full text here:(x).

Referenced as a Tlopps card: "This well-worn Discipline-era Walton Sports card has been predictably and humorously misprinted as 'Walton Splorts.' Curiously, in addition to the misprinted name, for some reason the blaseball he’s holding doesn’t appear to be regulation, despite looking very similar to the one seen in properly-printed copies of the card."

The Jazz Hands on the Blaseball discord remembered that Walton’s page hasn’t been updated with his lore about events from Season 10 up to but not including his Season 23 feedback to the Tigers. So here that is.

Before the summary of incoming lore, we have a proposal to reformat his current discipline lore to be under one header instead of being under their own individual season headers. This would also include a little bit of rewording/writing in order to fit the existing lore into the new format. The actual lore within the reworked content will remain the same.

Lore additions summary:

-Adding a reference to Sports’ walk-up music, “Rite of Spring”, finally playing during games due to him spending a number of seasons as a batter.

-Walton starting out Expansion era as a more mellowed out person than he was at the start of discipline

-Walton having a tarot reading that kind of predicted that Season 13, a notoriously tragic season for the Jazz Hands, would turn out pretty bad.

-Stating that Walton, while not close to Combs Estes, did feel bad about Combs' incineration.

-Walton continuing to be unsplortsmanlike with suggestions for rule changes to Blaseball to make it safer

-Walton becoming a batter in S16 and rumors that he and Collins Melon were literally stealing bases, which he denies.

-Season 18's two incinerations being hard on Walton, and a reference to how Lancelot Kane was his babysitter as a child, which is already mentioned on her wiki page.

-Walton maintains and builds The Pocket's birdhouses in his free time and uses the stadium’s facilities to do so.

-Walton returned to pitching in S23, freeing The Pit's orchestra from playing Rite of Spring.

-A trivia item declaring that Walton’s favorite tarot card is a Shohei Ohtani card.

Walton Sports' swap to the Tigers

Clio (talkcontribs)

A substantial addition to Walton's wiki page that describes his swap to the Tigers and adjustment to the team.

Basic Summary:

- He explains away the swap as the next step in his career after his contract was up.

- He had difficulty adjusting to Hades and in particular the fans' reaction to eclipse games

- Drinking blood in the blooddrain game s24d1 made him ill

- He has now found a place within the team as a sort of "team dad" figure, particularly through bonding with Zion Aliciakeyes after asking for tools so he could maintain the stadium's birdhouses

And a few fun facts:

- He handles the grill at team dinners and sneaks snacks to Beasley Day

- He brought a sistrum with him from Breckenridge and Mummy Melcon is teaching him how to use an Egyptian sistrum properly

Walton Sports is mentioned on the page of new Sunbeam Borg Ruiz!! Fulltext of Bo's page can be found here but the relevant section is as follows:

"Most recently Ruiz has been sent a letter from Walton Sports. Enclosed was a doodle of XVI The Tower in golden Shlarpie on a detached Playball cover featuring Annie Get Your Gunblade. The page is now stuck to the inside of Ruiz's pantry door with blue sticky tack."

Adding an IRM to Walton Sports' page

InRainbow (talkcontribs)

Currently Walton Sports doesn't have a functioning IRM, just a header and a block of text, so I want to add an IRM in the Filebox format, other options and desciptions of what the filebox format is can be found here: Help:Interdimensional Rumor Mill Guide

Inumo (talkcontribs)

What's going into the IRM? If it's just sitting empty there's no real need to set one up IMO; it'll just increase page load times.

InRainbow (talkcontribs)

I was going to write an IRM for Walton but I figured that I should put the talk page up for installing the IRM before putting the talk page up for the IRM entry so that it wasnt one block of text where installing the IRM might get missed over the IRM entry text

Inumo (talkcontribs)

IMO it's better to propose the IRM entry simultaneously. That said, filebox IRMs are generally intended to be full-page IRMs, to prevent reader burnout. What're you thinking as the limit to the IRM entry length to balance burnout against length freedom? Or are you also proposing making Sports' whole page a filebox IRM?

InRainbow (talkcontribs)

Now that I'm thinking about it what I'm proposing wouldn't lead to a pleasant reader experience. What I was imagining was the main community generated lore, and then under it another separate interpretation of Sports. This doesnt feel like it would fit into any IRM style well and it could get confusing to the reader, I also wouldn't want to turn Sports' entire page into a filebox IRM because it would break the style of the Jazz Hands. So I think I'll shelve this to give it some more thought.

Inumo (talkcontribs)

FWIW I've been planning on a revisit of the Jazz Hands' contribution guidelines for during the Not So Grand Siesta, since they do make in-depth alternate interpretations basically impossible with the new IRM expectations. Keep an eye out for that conversation.

Updating the Rite of Spring joke

Inumo (talkcontribs)

Since Sports now bats, I'm suggesting the "Rite of Spring" joke be amended. Exact amendment is pending discussions in the official Discord, but. In case anyone's looking here.
