In lieu of the recent update to IRMs, I will be giving the one on this page the filebox format as it feels most appropriate

Lore so far about s20 election:

After accidentally trading Zoey to the Steaks, the Steaks and Mechanics worked together to figure out how to get Zoey back.

In Season 20, Shirai rappeled down to Dallas on a rescue mission. As a farewell, the Steaks threw a going away grilling party for Zoey - but were shocked to see the grill rise up on two legs, grab Zoey, and rappel away.

Here's the collaborative lore so far:

- a textile mechanic who knits, sews, crochets, weaves, and has dabbled in everything fabric related

- women's work with textiles are often looked down on as not "technology" so I love her being a textile mechanic to counteract that

- makes protective suits for delving further into the core which still look fashionable as heck. at lizzy's insistence she tried weaving out of pasta once it didn't go well

- has a portable sewing machine for emergency costume changes

- has a shellmet with a hard hat style bump to protect against falling rocks. she CAN see out of those tentacles

- her shirt is a soft display which can display animated patterns or tv or bad memes. she can control it using the built-in touchpad

- eyes and lidar built into her tentacles. she CAN see out of them

- a handheld sewing machine

- ginormous pockets

Personality:

- someone had a hilarious image of shirai as a cosplay master of disguise, and someone else had the idea that shirai collects stuff: maybe she knits herself new outfits on the fly while dodging debt collectors on the surface

- there was also an idea that shirai came down to "rescue" Dot and discovered that A) actually Dot was doing pretty good and B) it was pretty cool here

- will cover you in blankets woven in front of your eyes if you seem cold

Hobbies:

- loves to cosplay, and is a master of disguise

- picks locks with tiny knitting needles, uses yarn bombs instead of smoke bombs

- steals art from museums

- a hazardous environment specialist, designing hazard suits that are comfy and easy to use and don't resctict movement while still fashionable

The wiki mods were alerted to the installation of the IRM without prior discussion to this page. At time of discovery, it was empty with default settings for the full page. The installation was performed by Beelijah, who can reinstall the IRM after 24 hours if there are no objections (though we recommend waiting to install the IRM until there are actually entries to fill it with).

Background

Shirai McElroy is a chemist and textile engineer, and specializes in safety measures related to handling hazardous metaphysical concepts. McElroy was born in raised in Halifax, Canada. She discovered how to make fabric as moist as emotionally possible, gaining the attention of the Moist Talkers. She was signed on to design uniforms for the team, but a paperwork mishap lead to her being drafted into the team's shadows, and her uniform designs were never put into use.

Trade to the Mechanics

McElroy was instrumental in mounting the rescue mission that retrieved PolkaDot Patterson from the Core. After it was discovered that Patterson was not in any danger, and was in fact reportedly "vibing" with the newly descended team, McElroy grew interested in the culture of the Mechanics and made the decision to stay, trading spots with Patterson on the team's rotation.

While not pitching, McElroy creates experimental fashion pieces alongside continuing her work with safety protection gear. McElroy has recently partnered with fellow Mechanic Jasper Ji-Eun to expand the scope of their line of affordable vogmasks.

McElroy has a noted distaste for Baltimore Crabs pitcher Jacoby Podcast. When asked the origin of this feud, McElroy responded: "I don't like podcasts. I have never heard a podcast. Everyone keeps asking me when I am going to be on Jacoby Podcast's podcast and I am sick to death of it"

I think this sounds cool; I would be interested in fleshing out the last sentence to make sense on a wiki.

How do you feel about the current revision?

Background

Shirai McElroy is a famously private individual, and not much is known about her personal life or history. When approached with questions about her life before joining the Mechanics, McElroy reportedly responded, "What are you, a cop?" before ziplining out of the room.
