Discuss any alternate forms for Pitching Machine here! While not required, here is a handy template to writing an IRM entry for Pitching Machine.

From Los Angeli Universe: Pick a random 4 or 5 digit number, maybe stick a period in there somewhere.

Appearance: Describe what this version of Pitching Machine looks like

Details: What makes this Pitching Machine different? If this version of Pitching Machine is unconventional, how does it manage to pitch?

(Feel free to combine these two sections in your write up ^)

Musical ability: What kind of music does this PM make, and how does it do so?

I propose that this should be a Vignette-type IRM, but that the heading at the top be renamed "Time in Los Angeli" rather than the default "A Vignette About".

Fixing the IRM but Preservation

So...the IRM is broken but the page is preserved. How will this be fixed?

Nesblitt (talkcontribs)

I mentioned this elsewhere but if someone proposes an IRM type, a moderator or administrator can make the edit when it is appropriate. If a while goes by before this conversation happens, we may decide to choose a format ourselves.

The Lovers would like to contribute to the legacy that is Pitching Machine and their brief time on our team.

Our plan is to briefly mention that PM played for the Worms and what occurred in Ohio is currently shrouded in mystery (and then allow the Worms to provide lore for that spot at their leisure.)

Mention Pitching Machine's interactions with Cannonball Sports, on our team. Mention the circumstances regarding the Lovers' request for Pitching Machine (as seen on Kichiro Guerra's page.) Maybe make a very brief mention of the lack of Ortiz Lopez while they were here.

I believe this is all that we have planned due the very short time PM was on the team.

We are locking Pitching Machine's page as part of Preservation efforts occurring on Blaseball.com. Any contributors who were in the process of developing lore for Machine prior to its Preservation may still submit lore proposals, but the page will remain locked for editing except to add such lore. Lore cannot extend beyond its Preservation after Season 18, Day 99.

Official League Record - PM's Playoff Homer

During Season 16, going into Game 4 the Worms were losing a playoff series 2-1 against the Houston Spies. The Spies looped Sun 2, causing them to reach 3 Wins. Up 9-0 with 2 outs in the top of the ninth inning, Pitching Machine hit a 2-run, double-game-winning home run to take the series to Game 5.

Although the Spies eventually won the First to Three series 4-3(!), I think this home run should be included in PM's wiki as his most important batting moment.

Procedural Correction for Lore Entry

Wiki mods were alerted to a lore addition that was not added according to collaboration policy. The edit has been rolled back, and is copied here for community discussion. The below loreblock was added to the static page, after the IRM & before the "Performance on the Field" section. The original author is Camwoodstock, who may choose to claim & re-add the lore should no objections be made after 24 hours.

As a batter

When the Ohio Worms took Pitching Machine in Season 13 as a batter, it used the still-not-removed bayonet strapped to it by Vito Kravitz in lieu of a bat, where the ball would shatter into debris on impact, flying in all directions. The largest part of debris that went flying was used to determine the official position of the "ball". Some say a small worm can be seen carrying Pitching Machine when it "runs" from base to base, but these rumors remain unconfirmed.

PM IRM: JG-inspired cyborg PM

(Im)perfect Pitch (talkcontribs)

From Los Angeli Universe: 6120

Appearance: Pitching Machine is a synthetic humanoid cyborg custom built from a mixture of organic and manufactured parts and has a distinct seem-stitched appearance.

Details: Pitching Machine (nicknamed “Pitches”) claims to have been assembled as official ILB equipment and kept on hand in case of emergency situations where play might be interrupted in defiance of league rules. The ILB offices have not responded to repeated requests for comment on their manufacturing processes or their sourcing of human components.

While most other versions of Pitching Machine go by It/Its pronouns, Pitches is noteworthy for identifying as She/Her.

Pitches is publicly known to be romantically involved with Hades Tiger’s batter Zion Aliciakeyes, a fact that has stirred endless speculation about her poor performance on the mound during game 4 of the Season 12 Internet Series between the Hades Tigers and the Seattle Garages. While most members of the Garages have been publicly critical of such accusations of unsplortmanlike conduct, few were willing to speculate on the matter. Garages line-up batter Sparks Beans was the sole player willing to make a full statement at the post-game press event, saying “What happened with PM? Easy: She was too gay to function out there. Happens to the best of us.” (Beans declined to answer any follow up questions, declaring that they were “bored now” and leaving).

Musical Ability: Despite appearances, Pitches claims to be a classically trained vocalist. She attributes this aptitude to a miscommunication early in her design process.

StarryNavigator (talkcontribs)

From Los Angeli Universe: 8224

Appearance: A Pitching Machine with a trombone in place of the typical chute. Its bayonet is affixed to its slide tube.

Details: After getting annoyed at people asking about their last name and if they play the trombone, Garages pitcher Betsy Trombone fashioned this version of Pitching Machine, affixing a functional Trombone to its chassis in place of its normal mechanisms. It seems to have an affinity for Betsy, taking after them and threatening to stab anyone within slide tube range. It is capable of firing balls from its horn, though it does need its spitvalve cleared out once every inning.

Musical ability: Doot! This iteration often contributes to the ska band made up of Betsy Trombone, Ollie Mueller, Summers Pony, and Farrell Seagull.

Alter Eagle (talkcontribs)

(reposted from the IRM subpage, in line with talk page guidelines!)

From LA Universe: 43.49 Appearance: It's a forklift, equipped with a glove and a sign pointing to the glove that says "glove⤴️". Details: The sign is affixed Per osha regulation 21 C.F.R. 1910 §178(a)(5) which states that attachments other than factory-installed ones are appropriately marked. It pitches by doing donuts around the pitcher's mound and releasing the ball at an opportune moment. As this PM does not have two left hands, according to HCFSSB guidelines it cannot safely disembark from a forklift. Musical ability: This PM plays a custom-built extra-large keyboard, and plays exclusively in diads.
