(crosspost) Alternate

I have proposed an entry for the IRM on the Alternate page that mentions that both Velazquez and Collins Melon are facets of universal constants.

Expansion Era (pre-tacos)

Oj (talkcontribs)

This would go into the New Math side of the IRM.

  • Losing Theodore Holloway and Son Scotch made Math retreat further into mathself, becoming periodically catatonic
  • Received Stijn Strongbody's notes after the latter's incineration. A paper has been published with Stijn and Math listed as co-authors
  • During the season 20 playoffs, two Consumers "literally halved" Math's stars
  • Between voicemails Math has been using time in the Shadows to do "research. Classified research"

Proposal: rework this into a Dimensions IRM

Now that there's a clearer style of IRM specifically for pre-alternate and post-alternate, I think it would be best to paste Old Math into one IRM and New Math into the other. Old Math would also get the Matthew Velazquez bit attached to it and New Math would get the Existential Math bit attached to it, because as best as I can remember that's what they were supposed to be for.

Proposal: Comprehensive update

So, this update has actually been in the works for a while.

  • Make two different sections for Old Math/New Math

Old Math:

  • Velazquez instinctively completes homework thrown at mathself. Mathematicians' attempts at getting Math to solve unsolved problems just get "wouldn't you like to know" (except more eloquently).
  • OG Math became capable of human-scale communication by learning Blojban.
  • Velazquez was definitely not targeted by the ILB for a performance-enhancement Alternation specifically to prevent math from reaching negative stars. Nope. Absolutely not.

New Math:

  • Move the bit between the ILB's mandatory ratings committee and soulscreaming into the microphone down here
  • Math knows sign language and can use a tablet computer as an assistive communication device now.
  • This Math doesn't know as much about Immaterial Plane physics, but knows more about cryptography and programming. (Or at least can finally communicate the results of the latter two in a comprehensible manner.)
  • Relationships with the other Spies: Alexandria Rosales appreciates new Math's cryptographic skill, Fitzgerald Blackburn blushes when asked about Velazquez, and Denzel Scott talked with Velazquez for a while and apparently they're cool now. Marco Escobar, on the other hand, thinks Velazquez did this specifically to spite their theories about prophecies.
  • The bit about Stijn Strongbody gets moved down here.

Other:

  • Miscellaneous verb tense updates
  • Miscellaneous improvements/revisions to make the math jargon more, like, actual math jargon

Feel free to pop into the Spies Discord server and ask for the full text.

Proposal: Addition to Math's lore

Alisadblaze (talkcontribs)

So I have been in discussion with both the Spies (i'm a spies ambassador) and the tokyo lift, and we have come up with a new piece of lore to add to Math's wiki page. This is NOT a new IRM, it would go on Math's actual page below the Alternate Reality section.

This lore is about how Math became friends with the team captain of the Tokyo Lift, Stijn Strongbody. Stijn's pregame ritual is "Advanced Mathematics", so we decided to make the two of them friends.

The story goes that Stijn approach the Spies after their first game in Tokyo, and invited Math to stay overnight at the Lift Stadium. Math agreed, and the two became fast friends. They often hang out with one another when the teams are playing each other. They can often be found discussing impossible graphs and different paradoxes. Their friendship is viewed with admiration, a sign of the league starting to come together after the discipline era

So I've got two different IRM entries I want to add:

1) one where Math is metaphysically entangled with a baseball [sic] player called Matthew Velazquez, who is only in the major leagues because of a series of coincidences and accidents, and who finds himself having certain very specific nightmares

2) one where math has always existed because it is in the nature of the cosmos, and Math is just a small part of it pinched off to be part of the universe experiencing itself
