Fairwood is mentioned in a wiki update for Penny Mathews. Penny was friends with Fairwood and bonded over having faery/arcane origins, and hoped to take a trip back to Yellowstone with her before she was traded. She still hopes to keep in touch with Fairwood.

Adding some fan lore for Patchwork's time with the Crabs

Details include:

- Carcinization via losing their heart, severing their connection to the Forest

- Making friends with Zeruel Kramer

- Doing theater with Avila Guzman

- Finding Forrest Best's bunker, and learning how to steal (bases)

Full text is available here to review (uses they/them in the draft, but I will get that pronoun randomizer wrangled for the actual update)

hello! long time Garage here and a few people on our team expressed concern over a couple of sentiments in the intro, namely the idea of them being totally severed from their home and being giddy about it rubbed some of us the wrong way. Fairwood is a really beloved original (post season birth) player for the garages and while i certainly doubt this was intended, the wording kinda feels like they were being held back by the team, if that makes sense? we would be happy if it was reworded a bit, and to provide suggestions if you'd like. (genuinely love the guzman stuff)

UnabashedlyRose (talkcontribs)

Oh yeah for sure we can work on that - The idea was less about being severed from their home, and more being in a state where the one thing her identity was tethered too was cut off, letting her take it in even wilder directions (think like the feeling of when you first move out - suddenly you can eat whatever you want whenever)

I think part of the original pitch for it also had to do with her being caught up in the many versions of the players on the Garages - since the way she experienced time meant she had overlapping ideas of who people were, so part of the emphasis there is also being in a new place with new people. who she had no prior experience or expectations with.

That being said - yes lets take a look! What passages in specific were you looking at?

For the use of "giddy" we can probably swap out something like "enraptured" that might capture the energy better?

we really like the change to enraptured! Some suggestions were maybe: - “giddy” to “enraptured” is good — maybe “Newly unbound Patchwork was giddy to throw…” would be “Patchwork’s newly broadened horizons enraptured them, and they threw… [continues as is]” or similar - “sever” to something like “widen”? — something emphasizing that the connection still exists, but now allows fairwood to connect to the crabitat/olde one/baltimore *as well* and not *instead* - “leaving Patchwork untethered from anything but themselves” — maybe something more along the lines of “This left Patchwork with an unfamiliar, yet intriguing, need/desire to explore their new boundaries — or lack thereof.” hope this is helpful 👍

oh yes that's super helpful! how does this read for the edits:

In season 22 Patchwork was traded to the Baltimore Crabs, and immediately felt a pang of being separated from the Pine Woods in both a literal and spiritual sense. In flight from Seattle Patchwork felt their heart grow more and more strained, until they finally entered Baltimore as a Crab, and the Olde One called out to them. She offered to evolve the connection between Patchwork and the Pine Woods that they felt themselves being tugged away from. Patchwork agreed, and when they stepped foot in Baltimore, something was different. Local carcinization expert Pedro Davids was the one who pinpointed exactly what had happened, confirmed by checking for Patchwork’s now non-existent pulse. Davids explained that crabs were biologically interesting in that they possessed an open circulatory system, which meant that the Olde One had simply carcinized Patchwork’s heart into not existing, leaving Patchwork with an unfamiliar, yet intriguing, need/desire to explore their new boundaries — or lack thereof

Patchwork’s newly broadened horizons enraptured them, and they threw themselves into experimentation with what exactly they were now.

I went for "evolve" on the descriptor to the carcinization change as a way to carry on the themes on the carcinization side, and to make it more of a "the bond is still then but it's changing" thing.

Let me know what you guys think!

That looks so good! Thank you very much

update: Patchwork helped Lenji build the Salmon Spire. This will be reflected here, Lenji's page, and The Big Garage.

Incognito80 (talkcontribs)

Fairwood also hails from The Forest in the outfield of the Big Garage, which is mentioned in the page update there
