Moving Static Lore into Dimensions IRM?

2
Inumo (talkcontribs)

It's bothering me that the "current" version of Edric isn't the one associated with all the static lore since it didn't end up in the same IRM entry. Any objections to me scooting it into the Alternate Edric IRM entry so it's properly linear, as intended w/ the Dimensions IRM format?

Firefighters are good with this! Seems like a good call.

Updating Edric Tosser's IRM to function in the new IRM system

1
InRainbow (talkcontribs)

Since I was going to be doing some editing in here anyways, I would like to update Edric Tosser's IRM so it functions in the new IRM system. I would be adding the dimensions tag to this IRM section (I think thats how it works) because they are two interpretations of one character where the split is brought on by alternation. See Help:Interdimensional Rumor Mill Guide for other options and details on what a dimensions IRM entails

Wow, its been 10 seasons since Edric Feedbacked, lets do something about that lore huh

Here is Edrics Lore doc! The major updates are

- Edrics Last trip to the Firehouse, including a talk with Agan Harrison

- The new instrument finding process of the Jazz Hands following Agans Departure, including a quote from Conrad Vaughan

- Tosser returning to dancing

- A friendship with Wyatt Pothos and Lion Dancing

- A friendship with Combs Estes and Tossers reaction to their incineration

- and his time in the shadows, featuring Declan Suzzane, Atlas Gurrea and their twitch streams, making gamer swords under the supervision of Mikan Hammer, and a friendship with Steph Weeks and Riley Firewall

Preliminary Transfer Narrative from the Jazz Hands on the Discord

2
Inumo (talkcontribs)

The following story beats are proposed for describing the Feedback transfer of Edric Tosser to the Jazz Hands, with refinement & exact details (such as Tosser's instrument of choice) to be settled while collaborating with the Firefighters:

  • Tosser comes out of an Agan Harrison-induced brain fuzz wearing a Jazz Hands uniform on the bus back to Breckenridge, with no real idea of what happened.
  • After arriving at Breckenridge, the team realizes they need an instrument - a process that Harrison used to oversee.
  • The team talks with the Slide-Trombone Bolter to figure out what to do, and for the first time Tosser understands what's being communicated in the din of doots & other instrument cacophony.
  • They decide to, as a team, enter Bolter's collection to support Tosser as he chooses an instrument.
  • Someone gets bored and starts jamming, supported by some well-timed doots from Bolter.
  • Eventually the whole team starts jamming, with a couple members dropping out of the pocket whenever Tosser finds an instrument he wants to try. Those members help Tosser figure out how to play it, whether because they know how to play it or by supporting experimentation w/ unknown instruments.
  • Tosser settles on an instrument, and the whole team decides that was a great experience & should be repeated for future newcomers.

The proposed story beats were brought back to the Firefighters lore server and discussed. Largely, there was a feeling that simply saying Edric woke up in Breckenridge and accepted it stripped him of an agency of character we've been trying to build. To that end we've suggested some counterpoints, which could be woven in with Agan Harrison's transfer narrative (posted to ███ talk page here). Feel free to take or leave elements of characterization, but this is what we Firefighters feel is most appropriate, building off what you guys gave us!

The counterpoints and various other discussions we had are available here [Google Doc link].

One additional thing: We'd love a thumbs up to change Edric's profile image to one more reflective of the ethnicity we associate with him (image link--let me know if it doesn't work)!

OG Edric Siesta Lore Update

3
CrookedSaint (talkcontribs)

This is set to go up as IRM 818.36 for Edric as part of the Firefighters Siesta lore update. It is the current article plus some minor post-S3 additions and language edits for consistency.

History

Born in the part of Chicago sometimes called Joliet to Cantonese and Jewish parents, Tosser's birth caused everyone in Chicago to have painful visions of prophecy. It became known through unclear means that he would be the greatest pitcher in blaseball history. One of Tosser’s many younger sisters was quoted after his historic ground out saying, “I always knew he had it in him. Literally always. I was born with this knowledge and I will die with it.” His eldest describes the birth as “Weird, because I was five and not really that prepared for a clairvoyant episode.”

Unfortunately for the splort of baseball, despite his strong desire to pursue a career as a firefighter[capitalization?], Tosser instead went almost immediately to work in the Joliet cinnamon mines. Many fans and critics of Tosser alike agree that his true talents were wasted in the mines, with many years that might have been spent training in the Underleagues spent bringing delicious, delicious cinnamon to the people of Chicago. It wasn't until years later that Tyreek Olive discovered Tosser and recruited them as a firefighter. Upon Mx. Chicago’s insistence that Tosser also take up his true calling as a blaseball player, he relented, but demanded to become a batter instead of a pitcher.

Tosser soon came to be known in Chicago as a hard working, salt of the earth, mediocre hitter who “could honestly do better if he just tried a little harder,” one fan is reported as saying. “Like seriously, you could be the greatest pitcher of all time, please just pitch the ball, why do you keep hitting into double plays?”

Tosser never followed up for comment.

After the Season 3 Finals, Tosser woke one morning to the knowledge that violence lived in their heart now. Tosser had become one of the three players on the Firefighters to receive a fragment of Landry Violence's spirit and gain a calming yet mighty new strength.

In the Season 4 Election, Edric Tosser was the subject of the Alternate decree along with teammate Justice Spoon. He is believed to have swapped places with the Edric Tosser of IF/108.18, who took their place. Reports from the current Edric indicate that they now play for the Deerfield Firestarters.

Like all of us, they are from Chicago. Their jersey number is 815.

Alternate Edric Siesta Lore Update

2
Robbie Burkhart (talkcontribs)

This is set to go up as IRM 108.18 for Edric as part of the Firefighters Siesta lore update. It is an original article based on siesta lorejams surrounding the concept of Edric's alternation and the origins of the alternate version.

Appearance
Edric Tosser is 5’1”.

Early Life
Supposedly hailing from the part of Chicago sometimes called Joliet, Tosser was born to Cantonese and Jewish parents. He is reported to have had one older sister and three younger sisters. Tosser has described his family in interviews lovingly, if minimally.

One of the few topics Tosser has been open to the press about in regards to his upbringing is his history as a dancer, taking up ballet from a young age. Some news outlets report that they possess an “eight foot vertical leap,” though this has never been corroborated with photo evidence.

Tosser was purportedly recruited to the Deerfield Firestarters prior to Season 1 due to their intrinsic understanding of the nature of fire. As a member of the Firestarters, Tosser was both a salaried Blaseball player and arsonist, and apparently played as a pitcher. However, as with many of the claims they have made about their time with the Firestarters, this remains unsubstantiated.

Alternation
During the Season 4 Election, Tosser was subject to the Alternate decree, replacing the Edric Tosser of IF/818.36. Tosser initially struggled acclimating to the Firefighters, but grew to become part of the team, despite some challenges and a tendency towards pyromania. Encouraged by his teammates, he ended up becoming an excellent firefighter.

Career
Tosser was greeted with high expectations going into the Firefighters’ fourth postseason appearance. After being reverbed into the pitching rotation on Season 5 Day 30, Tosser was bombarded with media attention thanks to pre-alternation Edric Tosser’s prophesied legendary pitching ability. Tosser then proceeded to pitch one of the worst games in Chicago Firefighters history, giving up 12 runs to the Jazz Hands.

Despite the slow start, Tosser quickly became a fan favorite due to their “infectious energy” and “high spirits.”

Like all of us, they are from Chicago. Their jersey number is 815.
