Talk:Cedric Spliff

This is a proposal to remove references to Cedric being a weed dealer from his page. While the original author of his page did not write Cedric as a Black man, later fan depictions of him consistently portray him as one. This plays into some lazy and negative stereotypes that add nothing to his overall character and removing these references would be a minimal change. There has also been a push for a while to move away from drug jokes in Garages lore and this update would be consistent with that movement. I’d also like to propose removing the “selling teens fake underage IDs” grift from the list as well. This is due to the Lil’ Roadies being an established part of Garages lore and the unfortunate implications that could arise from Cedric selling fake IDs to them. Additionally this also skirts the line of what may need to be CW'ed on a wiki page (see: Blaseball's CW Policies)

This is a proposal for a minimal update that would keep the spirit of the original character while removing potentially harmful content. If further rewrites/contributions are needed or desired those should be proposed as a new talk page.

There are two main sections of additions towards Spliff from the Talkers.

First are additions to the Con Artist Crime list:

Spliff sells Fish Summer a piece of "workout equipment" that's just a painted boulder.

Spliff sells York a conch with "the sound of the ocean" but it's like those birthday cards that play a song when you open them.

Spliff sells CV a fake game console that only boots to some weird romhack of burgertime.

In general, his 'cons' have turned more towards him making thoughtful things for his teammates but being far too embarrassed to admit he created them and then hastily 'grifting' (gifting) them

Secondly is Spliff settling into the Talkers and Halifax.

He's bonded with Jesus Koch over similar experiences of anxiety and not fully fitting in. He's bonded with Alston Cerveza, both being ex-criminals.

His dorm happens to be Richmond Harrison's old room, and he's left up all of the lovely self-affirming notes Richmond gathered over time.

He knows a great number of random facts, with an equal amount of odd blind spots. Great at trivia, but bad at knowing a whole picture.

Other Minor things:

His batting style is somewhat his blaseball sense, and somewhat 'oh gods the ball is coming at me keep it away'

He used to wear the bandana over his face constantly both due to 'feeling cool' and being slightly anxious over being a Public Figure

Joining the Moist Talkers

After joining the Moist Talkers in Season 8 Spliff was quoted as saying “I like the vibe here. The Talkers are a nice bunch, if pretty damp”. Deciding that Sunken Halifax might be a great place to make a fresh start Spliff has for the most part stuck to focusing on Blaseball in lieu of other pursuits. Despite this Spliff has on occasion been seen selling his teammates items from his new curio shop “Spliff’s Gifts” these items include:

• A “Fitness Boulder” Sold to Fish Summer (reports indicate it is simply a painted boulder)
• A “Hawaii Shell” Sold to York Silk (reports indicate it is a seashell with a birthday card speaker inside of it that plays ocean sounds)
• A “SpliffGame Console” Sold to Commissioner Vapour (Reports indicate it is a repainted Clommodre 65 with a single BurgerTime game cartridge glued into the slot)

In later interviews the Moist Talkers sold these curios responded positively to questions regarding their authenticity.

Spliff quickly acclimated to the Moist Talkers team dynamic and formed a close relationship with Jesús Koch, allegedly bonding over some shared blaseball related anxieties. Koch has been quoted saying “I love hanging with York and CV but once in a while it’s nice to chat with someone a little more grounded. Spliff is also great at Trivial Pursuit which I can’t play with the guys since the ‘Mountain Dew Incident’ ”    

Spliff is currently occupying the former Gleek Arena Dormitory room of Richmond Harrison and stated “I love the little notes the big guy left behind. Very positive and self affirming, if a little illegible.”

"Clommodre 65" is good, but how about: Nleo Gleo Plocket Clolor? (this is probably too many Ls)

I should definitely be Clommodore not Clommodre. I think i'll keep it at that though but thanks for the input.
