I propose moving the existing content to an IRM and marking the result as a filebox, as each is a fully standalone entry.

LexaByteNV (talkcontribs)

Added the filebox format, re-opening conversation about how to handle this page's IRMs as there was once mention of unpopular alternate interpretations possibly being kept separate. I am uncertain if this is still the recommended path.

Geometea (talkcontribs)

The page generally needs a bit of a rewrite/to be expanded on - would it be acceptable to maintain the current status quo and then as part of that have some kind of Alternate Interpretations section? This would allow for smaller IRM headcanons while allowing room for the more expanded interpretation.

IRM Collation and clean up

Hey, following up on an ongoing process to get a main page set up for Bees, this is an attempt to collate aspects of the existing IRM's into a main body of widely recognized Lore. Here is what I was able to get mesh together.

Background:

The swarm, referred to as Bees or Hive collectively, is a leaderless collective. The last name Taswell refers specifically to a former queen of the nanobee swarm who, after abdicating and doing away with the title of queen and the monarchy, helped unify the swarm with other pollinators (normal bees, cyborg nanobot bees, and at least one nanofruitbat) using the nanobees psychic connection. They are now known as Caregiver Taswell by the swarm, and although they dislike the idea of a leadership moniker they have been assured that it is purely a title of endearment and respect indicating how deeply Bees cares for Taswell.

The exact ratios of different pollinators vary from moment to moment, as they keep independent sleep schedules in different locations and can split into smaller swarms to multi-task. But while individual members may sleep in various places such as honeycomb server farms for both organic and inorganic entities, or particularly comfy engine grilles, the swarm as a whole usually has a majority of members awake at any given moment, but there are definitely a lot of them, and they're all very friendly. Occasionally individual bees may get lost and fall asleep only to awake in strange places such as engine grills or nooks of stadiums during away games.

Bees originally functioned as a Plant Mechanic when they found the Core, and still helps coordinate pollination and insect conservation efforts within the Core to this day. Taswell first started attending Mechanics games as a fan, sneaking off to watch practices, they were eventually noticed by the rest of the team and when another player fell ill before a game they and the rest of the swarm were brought in as a last minute replacement, they've been on the team ever since.

Personality:

Bees is easily excitable and distractible, often starting new trains of thought and detaching swarms to follow them mid-sentence. Occasionally they may be a bit scatter-brained if the swarm is trying to do too many things at once. Bees may sometimes freeze and become non-responsive when asked their opinion on something new for the first time as the collective votes on its preferences. Conversely Taswell is usually fairly nervous while members of the swarm more matter of fact. Taswell feels personally responsible for many events out of their control because they often have bad feelings before they occur, but usually can't figure out what is going to happen. Taswell doesn't know how or where they were made and Bees is suspiciously quiet on the question.

Bees prefers nonverbal communication such as telepathy, dancing, and scents. They have also been slowly learning English as a second language to communicate with those who are uncomfortable with telepathy. The Core Mechanics are well versed in understanding bees' dances and nonverbal communication and can occasionally pick up on certain scents, and Bees enjoys enormous fluidity communicating with Inez. When they do speak their "voice" is mostly projected through the vibrations of multiple swarm member and has a habit of interjecting long uhhhhh or ummmmm as the swarm members continue to vibrate while they pause.

Although the swarm often takes a humanoid shape, it takes many forms, often sporting multiple limbs or groups at once. When with friends Bees often will relax into a loose puddle shape of bots and insects, especially when relaxed or sleeping, although they take a more solidified form for familiarity when interacting with strangers or when playing blaseball. Seeing Bees melt into an amorphous gaseous swarm is a sign of a close relationship.

Personal Life:

Like many Core Mechanics, Bees has a number of different hobbies:

Bees has a keen interest in both botany and robotany. In the Core plants of every -punk and bees is can often be seen cross-pollinating and experimenting with plant strains along with Jolene Willowtree to grow bed-plants, roadflowers, or wifi-emitting mushrooms in public parks.

They are a fan of speedrunning video games, and also love to make graphic novels, boasting a large comic collection. They keep an illustrated manuscript journal sketchbook. Taswell reportedly has the gift of prophecy, and channels it through their art. Before every Mechanics game, Bees draws an illustration that depicts the future ahead of them based on Taswells prophecies. However, Taswell cannot control the scope of their visions, and often reveals information about the future that is entirely useless to the Mechanics' blaseball strategy, though they have helped reduce the impact of at least three natural disasters.

Bees also takes shifts running Pasta//Sauce, the food truck formerly run by Lizzy Pasta and Ruffian Applesauce. Bees' shifts at the truck are particularly known for their honey glazed ham on honey bread with honey mustard and light honey mayonnaise sandwich, as well as their signature honey nut cheerio's, made with real honey and real aluminium.

Bee Wedding Bee Wedding:

Bees Taswell and Inez Owens were wedded after season 15. In true Core tradition, both players built wedding bats to exchange. Before the ceremony Zoey Kirchner stole Bees' wedding bat, only returning it once the whole team had signed it.

The two things I couldn't quite integrate were the "Fugative Military Technology" part of one IRM and the "Ancient Ghost" IRM. I think those staying as IRM's and maybe getting a bit more put onto them makes sense personally though, but please comment your thoughts below.

Beelijah (talkcontribs)

Can I ask what the structure of the IRM/collated page is going to be? Is it going to be full irm, or partial. I wrote those two versions, and I could expand them to be longer if the plan is full IRM

ShadowedStranger (talkcontribs)

(Sorry, still getting used to this, I accidentally didn't reply properly.) The plan is that the stuff posted is going to be the "Main Body", because we've been told we need to flesh out that section, then the other two will be more traditional IRM's. IMO you should write a good chunk for the Ghost one though if you want to, because it isn't represented much in the main body (I did get the prophecy stuff in because it was pretty well liked.), but the "Mil-Tech" one can probably be a bit lighter comparatively, more of an accent/possible origin of Taswell then a full other page.

Beelijah (talkcontribs)

Oh, my question was more along the lines of if the page itself was going to have IRM enabled for the entire article, or if the other rumors would be put in a separate part of the page, the way the Jazz Hands have things set up

ShadowedStranger (talkcontribs)

Sorry for the delay, I needed to confirm and hash out a response. As it stands it's going to be in a separate part of the page for now, because we've got a lot of pages to go through. Once we've gotten main pages for all our players set up with the current primary interpretation though, I'm going to try suggesting we open up conversation going over and discussing less well known versions of players who we could potentially expand the lore on, reaching out to the writers of those IRM's, and possibly switching players that have multiple properly fleshed out and recognized interpretations to a full IRM version. I don't know your personal interactions with the Discord, but it'd happen in the Mechs Sidecord Lore-Jam (After we've done this first pass and cooled off for a bit.) if you want I can reply to this thread to let you know if/when that happens so you can bring your IRM up then.

It seems like this isn't causing controversy, so I'm going to update the page now.

Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)
Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)

I'd like to add a section on Bees's various projects they've worked on in the core, which people can add to

for example, Bees' wedding bat for Inez

Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)

I'd like to remove the IRM from this player's page. We're a new team and we haven't come to a consensus about using IRM yet, but there IS a growing consensus, and having everyone's ideas in one page means they all get equal footing and can build off one another. Two of the three IRMs for Bees are very similar, and after the bee wedding this seems to bee the consensus, and I love the idea of working in things like prophetic sketchbooks from psychic blood into there too!

Beelijah (talkcontribs)

As someone who worked on several of those IRMs, I would object to them being removed. There was also no discussion in the maincord of removing the IRM that has already been installed

Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)

Since there are multiple IRMs here, we shouldn't remove the IRM. I'm going to close this discussion for now.

--Background--

Bees Taswell is a hive of electronic and biological bees working in concert together. Taswell was constructed by Taswell Aeronautics on contract with the Department of Agriculture in an attempt to address declining pollinator populations. Some time into their operation, Taswell went rogue, telling their operators that they were going to "save the bees" before disappearing with three hives of honeybees, two yellowjackets, a male mosquito, and a fruit bat.

--Fugitive Status--

Little is known of Taswell's whereabouts during this period, though they are the prime suspect in multiple counts of construction sabotage and butterfly theft. How they found their way to the Core is unclear, though Taswell has stated in interviews a need for repairs is what drove them to the Mechanics.

--Joining the Mechanics--

Taswell is a self-proclaimed Plant Mechanic, and helps coordinate pollination and insect conservation efforts within the Core, a job that they have done since becoming trapped within the Core post-ascension. Taswell first started attending Mechanics games as a fan, however, confusion regarding their bat and an untimely illness of another player lead to them being accidentally invited to practice and drafted into the team.

Beelijah (talkcontribs)

I'd like to update this IRM to include that Bees is married to Inez Owens of the Flowers

Beelijah (talkcontribs)

Background

Bees Taswell is a spectral entity commonly referred to as a ghost. Though Taswell is recalcitrant about details surrounding their life and death, they have revealed in interviews that they used to be a serf who worked primarily in agriculture. Taswell manifests as a humanoid form with a detached head and wicker basket mask for a face, akin to a medieval beekeeping outfit. Despite this, Taswell has little involvement with the apiary and plant mechanics of the Core.

Career

Taswell reportedly flew into the Core some time before the Mechanic's ascension, and has played with the team since. They are a prolific artist who incorporates their long history into their work with paint, ceramics, and mosaic. Taswell's preferred medium is illustrated manuscripts, and they are known to carry around an art journal with them at all times, even while fielding.

Taswell reportedly has the gift of prophecy, and channels it through their art. Before every Mechanics game, Taswell draws an illustration that depicts the future ahead of them. However, Taswell cannot control the scope of their visions, and often reveals information about the future that is entirely useless to the Mechanics' blaseball strategy, though they have helped reduce the impact of at least three natural disasters.

THEPINWHEELS (talkcontribs)

Found some artwork of Bees that aligns with the current IRM proposal. [ here and here ]. I'm willing to reach out to the artist to ask for their permission to use the art, but I thought I'd post here to let y'all know, too. Also I don't know how to add art to articles.

Nesblitt (talkcontribs)

In general we prefer if the artist uploads the work themselves or gives clear documented evidence of permissions.
