Talk:Abbott Wright

A human man with pencils for fingers and Sharpies for thumbs. He's a bit of a wallflower with dreams of becoming a published poet. After falling to the Yellowstone Magic, out of fear he could be sucked into another black hole at any moment, Abbott began keeping a detailed journal, in the hopes of leaving a mark on the world.

A human* engineer and star pitcher (captain?) on the Oregon Psychics (have you seen her stats pre-season 22?). They have numerous technological modifications to xyr body, most notably a threatening mechanical claw on a massive robotic left arm, and a screen embedded into their forehead. Her mind is connected to this screen, which aids her in expressing xes emotions with blunted affect, and with her own technology, it prefers to perceive the world through the thoughts, sights, sounds, etc of others.

Having consistently been ripped away from their allies and those she’s familiar with, be it via death or falling to another team, xy is distant and reluctant to get close with anyone as of recent for fear she’ll be torn from them, which conflicts with her need to lead. They possess a kind, protective, and very loyal side for those whom they trust or who trust xem in return.

*Wright is very detached from its humanity, and one could argue that her body modifications are expressions of this. Wright empathizes with objects and the insentient.

- Think about “”mad scientist”” theming given her pregame ritual (Research —> Science!) and the fact that she’s on the Psychics.

- She’s the first KLONG! If xe purposely haunted Loser, perhaps it was an experiment, Research, even. Otherwise, golly, imagine the turmoil she was thrown into.

- Abbott Wright and Rat Mason were both on the Rising Stars and are now both on the Yellowstone Magic. Maybe they are acquaintances.

I also think body modifications are possibly interesting (maybe something that happened in the black hole)

Kind of combining these two ideas a bit, a once-human, now cyborg engineer who writes poetry in their free time, perhaps the body they went into the black hole with was not the same one as the one they came out with. Now with some mechanical prosthetics and modifications to use, including an arm that can be pencil-fingered, a small pitching machine, or a net to catch a ball as needed, they've got to figure out yet another new body and situation they didn't ask for. In addition to their arm, they have an eye that acts as a tiny computer screen for them only, allowing them to access things like live cameras, the internet, and minsweeper (because why not), connecting them to others culturally, while still being socially separate.

Between being a ghost, a shadow, a pitcher, and finally a cyborg, perhaps they've decided that there's no point in trying to keep one stable, solid form, so in order to keep their sanity and to help their friends where they can, they now try to seek out changes for their body whenever they can in a way that helps them be a better player, person, and protector.

As for any sort of relationship with Rat Mason, I think we can start the lore with them just bonding over being friendly faces in the chaos for now, and if other lore changes down the line, I think we can change it from there.

Anyway, kind of keeps the spirit of constantly changing place and form, as well as emotional distance, even just in the base cyborg form, with the trauma, genius, and creativity directly shown by their hobbies and abilities. What do y'all think?
