The Commissioner does (theoretically) have the ability to Relegate a team. This, in effect, eliminates that team from the IBL. When Relegation occurs, it is the lowest ranked team in the league that traditionally falls victim. They are then replaced by a new team.
- Danny Marinara, coach of a little league team in Jersey City, claims to be a retired member of the Brooklyn Trees, who he claims were relegated in 1993. Experts dispute the validity of his claim, as there is no record of Blaseball ever being played in the city of Brooklyn, nor does anyone recall ever encountering a tree there either.
