Blood Bath

From Blaseball Wiki

(Redirected from Blood Thief)

The Blood Bath was a series of Modifications applied in the Season 5 Election, but were never activated in the game before the event was canceled.

Effect

The Blood Bath consisted of four modifications across all the teams in the newly created Mild and Wild divisions. Each division had it's own modification that was applied to every team in that division.

Blood Pity was applied to Wild High, and resulted in teams giving stars to the team who finished last in the division.

Blood Winner was applied to Wild Low, and resulted in teams giving stars to the team who finished first in the division.

Blood Thief was applied to Mild Low, and resulted in teams stealing stars from a division opponent that finished ahead of them in the standings.

Blood Donor was applied to Mild High, and resulted in teams giving stars to a division opponent that finished behind them in the standings.

Details of the activation are unknown as the Blood Bath never activated, and was eventually cancelled.

History

the Blood Bath was first introduced as a result of the High Filter Decree in the Season β5 Election. It passed with 39,656 votes and 26% of all decree votes, as well as the following message;

  • BLOOD FILLS THE TUB
  • FOUR ARE DIPPED IN
  • FIGHT FOR THE SURFACE
  • A LADDER OF BODIES
  • PORCELAIN CRACKS

Cancellation

Despite being set to trigger at the end of Season β6, the Blood Bath never occurred and was officially canceled at the end of Season β7.

The cancellation was officially reported by the @blaseball twitter account with:

Bloodbath postponed indefinitely. Contractors terminated for misappropriating funds.🩸⚾[1]

It was never confirmed to be related to the cancelation, but there was community backlash to some of the modifications - in particular from the Wild Low teams under Blood Winner. Due to it's effects the non-dominant teams would grow worse, while the best grew better, further widening the gap in that division. This combined with the extremely positive response to the Enhanced Party Time Decree in the Season β7 Election is often thought to be the reason for the cancelation.

As of the Expansion Era, the Blood Bath is defined in the glossary as "a cancelled event".
