Atlantis Georgias/Season 13

From Blaseball Wiki

In Season β13, the Atlantis Georgias finished 10th in the Wild League and 21st in the ILB.

The Georgias failed to make much of an impression during their first Season, only finishing ahead of the Ohio Worms and the Tokyo Lift in the Wild League, two other recently-introduced teams with similarly unimpressive stats. The Georgias additionally did not win any Blessings in the Election, but were granted a Free Will. The Georgias benefited from the Infuse Will granted to Jan Canberra, a Foreshadow that swapped Neerie McCloud for Slosh Truk on the Lineup, and an Alternate Will granted to Flattery McKinley.

Season Overview

The following summary mixes canon events with community lore.
Despite having four championships under their belt and having Evolved, the Atlantis Georgias were soon to figure out that the teams they were playing against were largely better than they were. Having seen little improvement in the previous election, the Georgias only found themselves beating out the similarly new Ohio Worms and Tokyo Lift, while coming tied with the Kansas City Breath Mints across the League. Not helping their performance was star batter Mint Shupe suffering an allergic reaction early on, leaving the Georgias without a standout batter for much of the Season.

Despite their performance, however, the Georgias accrued a small, yet passionate fanbase, as the team focused on small, steady improvements, hoping the team could return to their former glory someday.

Rigby Day

On Day 31, the Atlantis Georgias played the Boston Flowers under Solar Eclipse weather. The game was pitched by the Georgias' star pitcher Rigby Friedrich, with Dunn Keyes representing the Flowers.

During the bottom of the fourth inning, Hercules Alighieri batted in Siobhan Chark and Neerie McCloud, scoring two runs. However, solo home runs from Castillo Turner and Margarito Nava would subsequently tie up the game. By the bottom of the ninth, the game would be tied 2-2, thus bringing the game into extra innings.

Team captain Niq Nyong'o, aware that the team's Players were at risk of incineration, begged Friedrich to throw the game, but Friedrich refused, wishing to return to the glory days of the team's four championships. The game would drag on for eighteen innings, when Mint Shupe would tag up on a flyout from Yurts Buttercup, shaming the Flowers and winning the game for the Georgias.

In honor of this victory, the Georgias would dub the first day of every Season "Rigby Day," to celebrate their star pitcher, and hope that he never puts the team in danger again.

Neerie McCloud gets swept Elsewhere

On Day 84, Neerie McCloud was giving an impressive performance, hitting two three-run home runs off of Miami Dale pitcher Wyatt Owens. However, at the bottom of the seventh inning, a flood of Immateria would sweep McCloud Elsewhere.

While the Georgias were alarmed, many expected McCloud to make a swift return, much like Yurts Buttercup had earlier in the Season. However, as the Season continued to drag on, McCloud still hadn't returned from Elsewhere, and they remained Elsewhere until the Season's end. Little did the Georgias know at the time, this would mark the start of one of the longest tenures spent Elsewhere in ILB history.

Election

With the passing of the Free Wills Decree, the Atlantis Georgias were given a third Will in the Season 13 elections.

Surprising to no one at all was the Infusion of Jan Canberra. Canberra, who was known to be an excellent baserunner, often struggled to get on base in the first place due to her poor batting. With her newfound talent, many looked forwards to seeing Canberra getting opportunities to steal much more often.

Surprising to Fans, but not to the Team, was the Foreshadowing of Neerie McCloud for Slosh Truk. While McCloud was beloved by the Georgias fanbase, the team had assumed that it would be good to have someone fill in for faer for as long as fae remained Elsewhere. Truk appeared to be a capable batter, so despite being selected on a wimdy, most of the team had assumed the switch only made sense. However, many Fans remained worried that as long as McCloud remained Shadowed, she would be stuck Elsewhere for the foreseeable future, something future Seasons would prove correct.

Surprising to the Team, but not to Fans, was the Alternation of Flattery McKinley. Throughout Season 13, Georgias fans took note of McKinley's poor pitching, and had assumed that if swapped for an Alternate, their performance could not get much worse. This was a rookie mistake. The team, however, knew McKinley as a long-time colleague and was shocked to see an unfamiliar alternate reality counterpart take their place. This especially came as a surprise to team captain Niq Nyong'o, who had been married to McKinley for roughly five years. Fortunately for the team, the Alternate proved to be hardly any different save for an increase in batting skill, and would bring some much needed batting talent to the team... as soon as they could get them off the pitching mound.
