Thanks to Sav, who contributed much to the writing of this announcement.

Hello splorts fans; it's been a while. With the departure of Steven Wiki and the increased workload from the excitement of Library reveals and the resulting new teams and players, we haven't checked in for a while. From now on, you will probably see announcements on a revised schedule when something big happens (like this one) or recapping work the wiki has completed in a given three-on, two-off season cycle.

Today's announcement just has one Big Topic: an update to the IRM!

"Standardizing" the IRM

Since the introduction of the IRM, the wiki team has been thrilled at the ways this tool has been implemented by fans across the league. However, it has also been clear that the IRM suffers due to confusion about its implementation and use, both practically and philosophically. To address this, we have been working on standardizing the IRM!

We have analyzed the various ways the community already uses the IRM and come up with a set of formats to describe specific implementations. Each format will have an in-world introduction in place of the current IRM banner that will prepare the audience for what types of Rumors they could encounter in that particular IRM. It will still contain a link to the complete Rumor Registry. The Guide linked above has a list of the formats and their purposes, limitations, and arguments.

The goal of these formats is to provide a context for the collection of Rumors from which it draws. Not only does this better explain to a reader what is actually happening on a page when they encounter the IRM, it will give the community a shared language to describe creative and/or structural ideas about its use. Consequently, we hope that once the formats are implemented and internalized, they will also provide a set of road maps to help more contributors use the IRM in interesting and unique ways.

To summarize in one sentence: not much about the technology is changing; we just hope that these formats can give a starting place for people to meet when discussing using and installing the IRM. Before we sign off, here's the link one more time: Help:Interdimensional Rumor Mill Guide. Happy wiking, everyone.
