Zi Sliders

Zi Sliders was a pitcher for the Chicago Firefighters, and was with the team from Season β1 until Fall Ball.

Sliders joined the ILB as a player in the Shadows for the Chicago Firefighters with the Return of Blaseball.

During the Season β17 elections, Sliders' star ratings were completely randomized as a result of the On Deck blessing, resulting in Sliders becoming an Alternate and a combined 6.5 → 10.4 stat increase.

On Season β21, Day 52, Sliders joined the Firefighters' pitching rotation in exchange for Kennedy Rodgers as a result of The Fire Safety Awareness Center's Fax Machine. On Season 21, Day 77, Sliders retreated to the Firefighters' Shadows in exchange for Alston England as a result of The Fire Safety Awareness Center's Fax Machine.

During the Season β21 elections, Sliders recieved the Negative as a result of the Firefighters' Darkside Flip blessing.

On Season β22, Day 2, Sliders rejoined the Firefighters' pitching rotation in exchange for Alston England as a result of The Fire Safety Awareness Center's Fax Machine. On Day 12, Sliders retreated to the Firefighters' Shadows in exchange for England via the Fax Machine. On Day 21, Sliders rejoined the Firefighters' pitching rotation in exchange for Gabriel Griffith via the Fax Machine. On Day 24, Sliders retreated to the Firefighters' Shadows in exchange for Clare Mccall via the Fax Machine. On Day 33, Sliders rejoined the Firefighters' pitching rotation in exchange for England via the Fax Machine. On Day 37, Sliders once again retreated to the Shadows in exchange for Conrad Twelve via the Fax Machine. On Day 57, Sliders rejoined the Firefighters' pitching rotation in exchange for Twelve via the Fax Machine.

Over the course of Season β24, Sliders entered and exited the Firefighters' Shadows two times as a result of The Fire Safety Awareness Center Fax Machine events, ending the Season on the pitching rotation.

History

Zi Sliders, while currently from Chicago, grew up in the rural upper Midwest. Reports vary on whether she is specifically from Minnesota, Wisconsin, or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, namely because Sliders has given a number of conflicting answers when asked. Sliders originally moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University, eventually joining the Chicago Fire Department after dropping out late into zir undergraduate degree.

Sliders is Chinese-American and a transfeminine butch. She is known among fans of the Firefighters for zir personal style, especially her trademark leather jacket and large colorful earrings. Sliders is also a self-professed movie buff and, “dad rock aficionado”.

Pilotry

Sliders reportedly learned to fly planes at a young age, having been taught by zir aunt, aerospace engineer and hobbyist pilot Hualin Gao. When asked exactly how old she was when zi learned to fly, Sliders told reporters, “what are you, a cop?” Following her aunt’s passing, Sliders inherited her personal aircraft, a two-seater plane named the Hou Yi.

After hearing the Call, Sliders brought the Hou Yi to Chicago and retrofitted it for use in firefighting. The aircraft is mainly used for fighting forest fires, as well as in any urban fires that are of large enough scale to warrant its use. Sliders has also been known to use the Hou-Yi to visit family, saying, “sometimes you just need to get away for the weekend, dude.”

Team Relationships

Sliders is close friends with teammate Alston England. The two reportedly met in college, having been randomly-assigned roommates their freshman year. Sliders makes few public appearances, but is often accompanied by England when she does.

Sliders is also close with fellow former Shadows members Conrad Twelve, Clare Mccall, and Rush Valenzuela. Valenzuela spoke about Sliders on a TlikTok, saying, “you can only spend so long around a person before either loving them or hating them. Zi’s cool, though, we have a group chat.”

Following zir exit from the Shadows, Sliders has also reportedly developed a friendship with Baby “Ruthless” Triumphant. This relationship is unconfirmed as Triumphant threatens any members of the media who get too close and Sliders is committed to respecting xir wishes by not speaking of xem.

Trivia

Sliders is the sole known holder of a City of Chicago On-Street Airplane Parking Pass. It is estimated that this pass pays 1% of the city’s annual budget.
During Season 22, local fashion Instlagram @EarringsFromChicago voted Sliders Chicago’s best earring-wearer. About this, Sliders has said, “that’s nice… is there really an account just for Chicago-area earrings?”
Sliders has been vocal in the past about Blaseball’s negative impacts on player mental health. Representatives from the ILB responded to the criticism by saying, “⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️.”
Sliders is the owner of a pet lizard named Shān.
