Washer Barajas is a lineup player for the Yellowstone Magic, and has been with the team since the Return of Blaseball. Barajas is known for being the first batter in the Magic's lineup, and for their ability to steal bases.

Official League Records

Barajas was a league leader in stolen bases in Season 2, along with their teammate Sutton Picklestein, both scoring 12 steals.

During a game against the New York Millennials on Season 5, Day 37, Barajas swallowed a peanut and had an allergic reaction which halved all of their star ratings.

During the Season 5 election, Barajas's baserunning fell half a star as a part of the Charleston Shoe Thieves' Bad Neighbors blessing.

Barajas was attacked by Consumers during a Season 14 playoffs game against the Canada Moist Talkers. Their combined stars dropped from 8.8 to 5.6 as a result.

During the Season 14 election, Barajas retreated to the Magic's Shadows in exchange for Wyatt Glover as a result of the Magic's Foreshadow Will, becoming a pitcher in the process.

During the Season 19 elections, Barajas' pitching increased from 2.3 3.9 as a result of the Magic's Shadow Infuse will.

On Season 21, Day 81, Barajas joined the Magic's lineup in exchange for Logan Rodriguez at the Yellowstone National (Ball)Park via the Ratified Voicemail.

During the Season 22 elections, Barajas gained the Negative modification as a result of the Roster Flip blessing.

Box of Washer Barajas Files

Dust billows as the file box lands on the table. While many archives in the Interdimensional Rumor Mill are unified in some way, this... definitely isn’t one of them. The accompanying Rumor Registry explains all of the contents... wherever it is... but for now you grab the folder labelled IF-13.1.12-D and start reading...

Ornithomantic Assignation

A scrap of damp parchment is inscribed in blue ink by the Augur's hand

A collection of these notes was located in a file cabinet within the Yellowstone National Park Ballpark offices, all sharing a similar handwriting and purpose. Each note describes a member of the Yellowstone Magic, in synchronicity with a known reality counterpart, but as a particular species of bird. It remains unclear why the Augur is scrying these particular ornithomancies and what purpose they may serve, but the findings are dutifully recorded and cataloged when new ones are discovered.

Scrying target: Washer Barajas (Magic lineup, animated geyser?)

Ornithomantic assignation: American dipper (Cinclus mexicanus) - also known as water ouzel. Unusual songbird that has adapted to a life spent diving in streams!

Silhouette is recognizable - stout songbird, somewhat smaller than familiar American robin. Short tail, short wings, long legs (relatively). However, where typical dippers are dark grey in coloration, this individual appears to be composed of an ever-shifting collection of superheated water and steam, appearing whitish from a distance. Appearance of eye is a single spinning coin (?) - unable to resolve face value, country of origin, or metallic composition (copper?)

Actual composition is consistent with appearance: hydrogeological gasses, water, unknown coin, and stray bits of peanut and shell. In short, a geyser with a coin and some peanut bits in it, in the shape of a most unusual aquatic songbird! (Water elemental? Hydrothermal elemental? Clearly location-bound...what about away games?)

Arachismic-legumic reactivity: poor. Previous event in Season β5 has ongoing repercussions in actual physical composition! (this is consistent)

Sanguinicity: as yet unknown (no events in record - also consistent)

Migration status: nonmigratory, bound to park. (again - what about away games??)

Ley line attunement: effervescent and fumarolic (occasional association of smoke and sulfur?) with strong conative affinities (enaction of wishes?)

The longer I observe this individual, the more complexities I uncover. For instance, I would much like to know-

The parchment is blank beyond those words, except for one drop of ink beneath the word uncover.

On Season 5, Day 37, a single, stray peanut flew into Barajas's mouth, provoking a severe, previously undisclosed allergic reaction, leading the team's healers to rush onto the field. The crowd fell silent as officials huddled around the unresponsive geyser until, with a gurgling choke, Barajas began spewing thousands of peanuts into the air. This phenomenon has yet to stop, and now anytime Barajas erupts—gey's waterspout only reaches about half the height of its usual eruptions, and along with it comes an endless stream of peanut. Barajas seems just as confused and uncomfortable about it as everyone else. Splorts fans who have dared to eat any of the peanuts showered onto them by the geyser report a distinctly acrid but otherwise delicious taste.

Park rangers are baffled by the event. One was quoted saying, "From what we can tell the original peanut is still stuck in there, and for some reason it seems to be multiplying like, forever. We're still trying to figure out how to get the original peanut dislodged, but there are a lot of park regulations surrounding this kind of thing. Anyway, we hope we'll get to see Washer erupt at full height again someday. Get well soon, buddy."
