Box of Wanda Schenn Files

Dust billows as the file box lands on the table. While many archives in the Interdimensional Rumor Mill are unified in some way, this... definitely isn’t one of them. The accompanying Rumor Registry explains all of the contents... wherever it is... but for now you grab the folder labelled IF-18.740 and start reading...

Wanda Schenn is a small business owner and breast cancer survivor who formerly managed a farm in Delaware County, Ohio that produced corn and soy. She is a butch lesbian who uses she/her pronouns. She has a dog that used to be an astronaut.

Like all of us, she is from Chicago. Her jersey number is 740.

Appearance

Schenn appears to be a middle-aged Caucasian woman with short hair that is slowly going gray and floral half sleeve tattoos. She is either 5’4” or 6’4”, and enjoys dressing in a rockabilly style.

History

Schenn was born in Columbus and grew up in Delaware County on the farm that belonged to her German immigrant parents. The farm, which was approximately 400 acres, grew corn and soy used for pork production elsewhere in the state. Throughout her youth, Schenn participated in 4H and FFA, raising and showing gilts.

After graduating from high school, she spent five years working as a cross-country long-haul trucker, and then another two years as the mechanic for the same fleet she drove for. When her parents retired, she moved home to take over managing the family farm, and eventually started a recreational blaseball league in her community.

This led her to being recruited by the Ohio Worms in REDACTED. She ascended with the Worms on REDACTED and returned with the Descension in Season β12.

Move to Chicago

At the end of Season β13, Schenn sold her farm and moved to Chicago to chase her dream of opening a combination speakeasy and bowling alley, which she accomplished shortly after her move. The exact name and location of the speakeasy is unknown, as Schenn has made a point of separating her blaseball career from her personal pursuits, although it is rumored that Lou Roseheart occasionally visits Schenn there.

She earned her volunteer firefighter certification and EMT certification shortly thereafter. As a result of her change of address, she was traded to the Chicago Firefighters and joined the roster as a hitter.

Move to Los Angeli

At the end of Season β22, Mcdowell Mason expressed a desire to join the Firefighters, explaining that he’d concluded firefighting skills were an essential thing for him to learn these days. Schenn very abruptly placed the speakeasy under the new management of a friend not involved in blaseball and volunteered to trade positions. She has declined all requests for explanation why, although it appears to be a continued effort to stay busy and ward off some inner demon or another. The trade was hasty enough that, especially with Schenn Elsewhere at the time, neither party noticed it left Mason pitching.

Schenn found Los Angeli initially very overwhelming and sensory-overload-inducing, with her stress compounded by suddenly becoming a Subtractor. Yummy Elliott and McKinley Otten showed her around and helped her get acclimated, resulting in a close friendship with both. Schenn also bonded quickly with Rivers Rosa over their shared prior teams, with both having been traded onto the other’s first team in exchange for NaN.

Once used to the city, Schenn began to get visibly restless about not having enough to do between games. Before long, she got a job at the Van Nuys Ralphio’s, stocking shelves, running deliveries, keeping things in order, and running more deliveries. Until coworkers commented on it, she was unaware that this was the same Ralphio’s that Mcdowell Mason had previously worked at. As she got more comfortable in Los Angeli, she also started helping out around the stadium. She helped pilot the Chariot during Season β24 until she wound up Elsewhere.

Going Elsewhere

In Season β19, Schenn became an Undertaker. Justice Spoon, her teammate and the first Undertaker in the league, gave her guidance on how to use her new ability. However, midway through Season 22, Spoon wound up in the shadows, putting more pressure on Schenn to support the team.

On the Tacos, Schenn has been trying to “help my teammates, yes, but without- without being self-sacrificing.” As a result, she only dove in after a teammate once during her two seasons on the Tacos (though she joined the team while Elsewhere and was swept Elsewhere naturally at one point): flipping Felix Garbage negative on Season 24 Day 91.

Fortunately for Schenn and Garbage, the entirety of Blaseball was registered as Elsewhere shortly afterwards, allowing them to continue to interact with their team as normal. (Refresh to see another take on Schenn’s time Elsewhere.)

Wanda’s Dog

Schenn’s dog is a male golden retriever, approximately five years old, named Wander. Like Schenn, he is also a cancer survivor. A Firefighters fan favorite, he has been occasionally called “like, the sixth mascot of the Firefighters,” and is much-beloved at blaseball games, where he can be spotted retrieving fly balls in the outfield alongside Schenn and stealing meatballs from unsuspecting fans.

During Schenn’s time in Ohio, he was sent into orbit for approximately REDACTED days as part of a series of scientific trials. Schenn keeps his official portrait framed on her desk in the Fire House, and has been said to smile every time she sees it.

Wander received his search-and-rescue certification at the same Schenn received her EMT certification, but spends most of his time napping under the counter at Schenn’s speakeasy.

The Tacos were delighted to have a dog back on the team, and have taken to dressing Wander in the various costumes they had obtained for Halexandrey Walton. Wander enjoys this.

Trivia

  • Schenn cuts her own hair.
  • She is extremely capable with machinery and is very knowledgeable about cars, leading her to a close friendship with Kennedy Rodgers.
  • She has a close dynamic with Lucas Petty and Vito Kravitz, who, although both loud, are also car experts. Schenn brings some quiet competence to this dynamic.
  • She has dual language efficiency in English and German, and is taking Matoran lessons via Duolingo.
  • Wander and batter Socks Maybe’s relationship was extremely hostile at first but has mellowed out over a while, and the two can occasionally be seen napping together.
  • Since joining the Tacos, Schenn has been regularly seen getting advice from Sexton Wheerer, discussing science with Felix Garbage, and chilling quietly with Basilio Fig.
  • She is quiet and chooses not to talk much. She also often uses German to express her thoughts without her teammates understanding what she is saying.
  • During Season 13, Schenn pitched a game against Wyatt Pothos, who is noteworthy for having had the same first name as Schenn prior to the Wyatt Masoning. Several Tacos have expressed interest in Schenn’s first name, notably Basilio Mason and Wyatt Dovenpart.
