Triple Threat is a modification granted by Coffee 3 that first appeared in the Coffee Cup. It gives pitchers the ability to add 0.3 unruns to the opposing team in various situations.

Effect

Triple Threat is a modification that is given to both pitchers at the start of every game in Coffee 3 Weather. There are three situations where it causes 0.3 unruns for the opposing team:

1. If the pitcher strikes out a batter when there are three runners already on base.
2. If the pitcher strikes out a batter when there is a runner on third base.
3. If the pitcher strikes out a batter when there are three balls on the count.

These conditions can be triggered together, so if a pitcher strikes a batter out with three balls on the count and a runner on third base, they opposing team gains 0.6 unruns.

The duration of Triple Threat is variable, with a 33.33% chance of being lost at the end of the third inning of the game. If a pitcher keeps the modification, they will be able to use it for the duration of the game and have a 33.33% chance of losing it at the end of the third inning of the next game they pitch.

The Sweetener Ballpark Renovation increases the chance of a player keeping their Triple Threat.

Interactions with other Effects

Due to it's varied effects and ability to persist in other weather types, Triple Threat has a number of unusual interactions with other modifications.

  • If the batter is Wired and they are struck out, they instead gain 0.2 runs, as Triple Threat removes 0.3, and that counts as them 'scoring' an run, to which 0.5 is added.
  • If the batter is a Subtractor and they are struck out, the team gains 0.3 runs, as the subtractor applies a second negative, resulting in a positive.
  • In Sun .1 weather, batters start gaining runs instead of losing them as of the fourth inning, as the -0.3 is over taken by the +0.4 of the Sun's effect.

History

Triple Threat first appeared in the third round of the Coffee Cup, and was the first instance of "unruns" in blaseball.
