The Tokyo Lift are an Internet League Blaseball team in the Wild High Division of the Wild League. They have been a part of the league since Season 11 after the ascension of the Baltimore Crabs.

Season 11

In the Season 11 elections, the Lift was assigned the Arcana XI Strength.

Season 12

In the Season 12 elections, the Lift received the Trust will, granting Flippers to Wyatt Quitter, and the Foreshadow will, sending Concrete Mandible to the Shadows in exchange for Silvaire Semiquaver.

Season 13

In the Season 13 elections, the Lift benefited from the passing of the Free Wills decree and received three rather than two Wills: the Infuse will, boosting the stats of Coolname Galvanic; the Exchange will, trading Lotus Mango to the Seattle Garages in exchange for Goodwin Morin; and the Foreshadow will, sending Cudi Di Batterino to the Shadows in exchange for Engine Eberhardt. They also received the Spare Flippers blessing, granting Flippers to Freemium Seraph and Stijn Strongbody. Finally, the Lift also gained a Roamin' Alejandro Leaf due to the New York Millennials' Revoke will.

Season 14

During the Latesiesta of Season 14, Wyatt Mason was added to the Lift's Lineup as part of the Second Wyatt Masoning. On Day 81, Mason and Wyatt Mason VII of the Hellmouth Sunbeams canceled each other into static. On Day 99, Wyatt Quitter and Wyatt Mason VI of the Boston Flowers cancelled each other into Static as well.

In the Season 14 elections, the Lift received the Infuse and Foreshadow wills, choosing to send Val Hitherto into the shadows in return for Cudi Di Batterino, and voting to infuse Engine Eberhardt. The Lift also won the Buttered Up blessing, awarding them the Buttered Up modification. Finally, the Lift received the Soul Swap blessing, re-rolling the hitting stats of Stijn Strongbody and Elwin McGhee once each and Freemium Seraph a total of thrice.

Season 15

In the Season 15 elections, the Lift received the Alternate Trust and Move wills, rerolling Elwin McGhee and granting them the Parasite modification and moving Nandy Slumps to the lineup.

Season 16

On Season 16, Day 84, York Silk of the Canada Moist Talkers hit a flyout to Lance Serotonin, causing Serotonin to become Observed. Later, after play ended on day 88, Serotonin disappeared from the Lift's lineup, and they were Redacted.

In the Season 16 elections, the Lift received the Plunder and Move wills, stealing Jessica Telephone from the Hades Tigers in exchange for Ayanna Dumpington and moving Gerund Pantheocide to the lineup. They themselves were the target of a Plunder by the Charleston Shoe Thieves, who stole Goodwin Morin in exchange for Halexandrey Walton.

Season 17

On Season 17, Day 44, the Lift had their first incineration, and Stijn Strongbody was replaced by Rylan O'Lantern.

In the Season 17 elections, the Lift received the Equivalent Exchange and Transfuse wills, stealing Inky Rutledge from the Charleston Shoe Thieves in exchange for Alejandro Leaf and increasing Cudi Di Batterino's pitching at the expense of their hitting.

Season 18

In the Season 18 elections, the Lift received the Alternate Trust and Shadow Infuse wills, rerolling Jessica Telephone and granting them the Negative modification and increasing Kit Honey's hitting. They themselves were the target of an Equivalent Exchange by the Dallas Steaks, who stole Engine Eberhardt in exchange for Cory Ross. Finally, the Lift received the A Natural Blessing, granting Intuitive to Cudi Di Batterino.

Season 19

During the Season 19 postseason, the Lift won their first championship due to the ongoing effects of Turntables from the previous season's Trust Fall decree.

In the Season 19 elections, the Lift received the Foreshadow and Equivalent Exchange wills, choosing to send Silvaire Semiquaver to the shadows in exchange for Kit Honey, and stealing Engine Eberhardt from the Dallas Steaks in exchange for Cory Ross. They themselves were the target of three Equivalent Exchange wills: the Dallas Steaks stole Jessica Telephone in exchange for Kline Greenlemon, the Yellowstone Magic stole Halexandrey Walton in exchange for Evelton McBlase II, and the Canada Moist Talkers stole Cudi Di Batterino in exchange for Goobie Ballson. Finally, the Lift received the Outdoorsy blessing, granting Kline Greenlemon the Outdoorsy modification.

Season 20

On Season 20, Day 11, the Lift had their first feedback swap, trading Goobie Ballson to the Atlantis Georgias for Jan Canberra and making them the last team in the league to experience feedback.

In the Season 20 elections, the Lift received the Move and Equivalent Exchange wills, choosing to move Grollis Zephyr to the shadows with no replacement, and stealing Knight Triumphant from the Dallas Steaks in exchange for Engine Eberhardt. They themselves were the target of an Equivalent Exchange by the Atlantis Georgias, who stole Jan Canberra in exchange for Ankle Halifax.

Season 21

On Season 21, Day 12, the Lift had their second incineration, and Gerund Pantheocide was replaced by Steals Mondegreen.

In the Season 21 elections, the Lift finished in the bottom four of the league and received a Free Will. They received the Magnify, Equivalent Exchange, and Shadow Infuse wills, granting Yusef Fenestrate the 2x modification, stealing Cudi Di Batterino from the Canada Moist Talkers in exchange for Freemium Seraph, and infusing the defense of Steals Mondegreen. They themselves were the target of an Equivalent Exchange by the Charleston Shoe Thieves, who stole Inky Rutledge in exchange for Terrell Bradley.

Season 22

During Season 22, the Lift finished 23rd in the league, granting them a place in the Season 22 Underbracket. However, they were drawn as an Overbracket Wild Card, being replaced by the Houston Spies in the Underbracket. The Lift then became the Season 22 Wild League Champions, making it to the Internet Series where they lost 0-3 to the Kansas City Breath Mints.

In the Season 22 elections, the Lift finished in the bottom four of the league and received a Free Will. They received the Take, Shadow Revoke, and Equivalent Exchange wills, taking Underhanded Arm Socks of Intelligence from Wanda Schenn and giving it to Silvaire Semiquaver; revoking Roamin' Mags Banananana from the rotation to the rotation of the Canada Moist Talkers, granting Banananana the On an Odyssey modification; and stealing Engine Eberhardt from the Dallas Steaks in exchange for Knight Triumphant. Additionally, they were affected by three blessings won by other teams: the Seattle Garages received the Gachapon blessing, stealing Flattery Strewnberry from the Lift's shadows; Grollis Zephyr gained the Skipping modification from the Ohio Worms Record Scratch blessing; and Kline Greenlemon gained the Subtractor modification from the Hawai'i Fridays Subtractor Avoidance blessing.

Rotation player Herb Swamp was the Guest of Honor, was granted three Parties, and was granted  Life of the PartyTeam: This Team gets 10% more from their Party Time stat boosts. The Lift discharged Herb Swamp via the Charge Will, removing them from the roster. Swamp became  Static as a result.

History

Founding

Founded by Stijn Strongbody as a delayed response to the events of 1997, the Tokyo Lift are still a fairly new franchise, having only participated in ■■ seasons in the East Asian Minor League before being promoted to the Internet League. Before Season 8 of the Internet League, however, they had never fielded a single player other than Val Hitherto pitching and Stijn Strongbody batting. Thus, they were never able to play any games. (When asked, both claim not to remember this era, and, indeed, it might be in their personal futures.)

During Season 8, Stijn signed Fernanda "Nandy" Slumps to a coaching position, a first for the team. The Golden Age player was "reluctant" to return to the game, so she accepted on the stipulation that she also be put in charge of signings. She then immediately offered herself a contract as the Lift's second pitcher, which she happily accepted, quitting her previous job. Between Seasons 9 and 10, the roster of the Lift was assembled, using The Legscraper, an old gambling prize of Nandy's, as a home base.

Strangely, they did not seem to be affected by the aftershocks of 1997 present on the land.

Joining the ILB

At the end of Season 10, the freshly assembled team watched with bated breath as the Hall Stars faced off against THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS, and were delighted when they, of all minor teams, were selected to ascend to the Internet League. Shortly after, the team discovered an unconscious Wyatt Quitter in the ruins of a Tokyo road, already wearing their uniform.

During Season 11, the team endeavored to do as badly as possible to enter Party Time first, reasoning that a good first impression is key and that hosting Party Time is "a very, very good first impression". The team's efforts were not in vain; the Lift tied the Hawai'i Fridays' Party Time speedrun of 73 days, with many of their wins resulting from weather effects.

Following the Coffee Cup, Light & Sweet Electric Co. players Beck Whitney, Wyatt Quitter, and Lance Serotonin decided to try to get their teams together for a movie night. First proposed by Whitney to Quitter in the team's dugout as a way to meet up with some of the Wild Low players once again, Lance overheard and decided to rope the rest of the Lift in. Ever since, the Lift and the Miami Dale have bonded over their shared love of such franchises as Flast and Flurious, Cats (20XX), and MVP2: Most Vertical Primate.

Culture

Team Culture

The culture of the Lift highly emphasizes physical activity and striving to be the best you can be. This mentality does not focus on setting any kind of records, or even winning, whether that be in Blaseball, bench weight, or speedrun times. The Lift are driven to achieve "gains" in all things, with the often used chant "Nowhere to Lift but Up" being indicative of this. They know that gains are not linear, emphasizing the process of trying and failing over staying stagnant. This, of course, takes a backseat to mental health and self care; if pushing yourself will cause harm either physically or mentally, it is discouraged.

Fan Culture

Their fans show a similar level of devotion to self care and gainfulness, pushing themselves and those around them to be the best "them" they can be. Individual Lift players have their own distinct followings (the feel-good Lancers, the environmentalist group Lotus Blossoms, a troupe of close-harmony drag artists called the Slumpettes) but the Lift home crowd is hugely supportive of every player. This even extends to visiting teams, many of whom describe being briefly thrown off their stroke by a sea of fans in hot pink shirts chanting their approval.

Stadium

History

The Legscraper was constructed after Nandy Slumps obtained the deeds to Tokyo Dilsneyland in a game of Mahjong. She had previously obtained the legs in an unrelated incident.

Facilities

The Legscraper contains a regulation Blaseball field with seating as the top floor, with elevators going from the stands to other floors, such as concessions, gyms, and the central elevator, which itself connects the top floors and the bottom floors, giving the skyscraper the appearance of a dumbbell. The thickness of the central tower is attributed to Lift players' personal rooms, which are themselves ever-shifting in layout and linked by other independent elevators.

The bottom floors contain parking, gyms, and the tower's "driver's seat", which is customarily operated by Nandy Slumps.

Uniforms & Logo

Uniforms

The Tokyo Lift’s summer uniform consists of either a crop top and pants, or a unitard — controversially, booty shorts are permitted. The winter uniform consists of a unitard, pants, and a jersey. However, due to a wide range of body types and expertise the Lift uniform is freely modifiable by any team member. Notable modifications have included extra layers, skirts, assorted sports gear, and for some, forgoing the uniform entirely. In an interview, team co-captain Stijn Strongbody said: “We felt it was important to allow as many options as possible. While group cohesion is important, we didn't want it at the expense of the individual player's needs. Also, pink works with anyone.”.

The Lift’s home game colors consist of black and pink whilst their away colors consist of white and pink.

Mascots

200% Beef Hotdog 'N Chips the Third (Chips) the Maned Wolf serves as the team's mascot along with a more traditional mascot in the form of Kumuscle.
