Theodore Duende is a lineup player for the Seattle Garages, and has been with the team since Season 1.

Official League Records

Duende joined the ILB as a lineup player for the Seattle Garages with the Return of Blaseball.

On Season 7, Day 62, Duende siphoned some of Kansas City Breath Mints pitcher PolkaDot Zavala's hitting ability in a game with Blooddrain weather, bringing it from 3.5 → 4 .

During the Season 9 election, Duende became Spicy due to the Seattle Garages winning the Hot Sauce Bar blessing.

During the Coffee Cup, Duende played for Atlético Latte as a lineup player.

During the Season 18 elections, Duende retreated to the Garages' Shadows as a result of the Garages' Move will.

During the Season 19 elections, Duende's defense increased from 1.9 → 3.2 as a result of the Garages' Shadow Infuse will.

During the Season 21 elections, Duende's defense increased from 3.2 → 4.3 as a result of the Garages' Shadow Infuse will.

On Season 22, Day 18, Duende rejoined the Garages' lineup in exchange for Wyatt Mason X at The Hotdogfingers Memorial Climate Pledge Garage and Parking Facility via the Ratified Voicemail.

Theodore Duende is a member of the Duende species, and has been with the team since Season 1. Duende has been team captain of the Garages since Season 2, but the nature of his captaincy has since changed since the Grand Siesta. Duende was elected captain after an impressive show of skill against the Philly Pies, and since he was the only one on the team at the time willing to fill out the necessary paperwork and organizing that came with being a captain, he was perfect for the position. Later testimonies and statements from teammates suggests that this may have been a mischaracterization of the situation in the early seasons by Teddy himself.

Early Captaincy (Seasons 2-6)

Theodore Duende’s early years running the team was marked by several notable events. Managing the team throughout the early years of the Discipline Era was difficult, the team having lost four during his first two seasons at helm. Duende tried to maintain a sense of normalcy and stability despite this, stating that "If [the team] can't come to me for help, then who else are they going to turn to?" It is unclear how firm Duende’s understanding of Anarchist organizational systems was at this time.

Duende did his best to rally the team behind the Necromancy plan, tempering expectations but overall supporting the endeavor.

Late Captaincy (Seasons 7-11)

Reports were unclear regarding the immediate aftermath of the necromancy ritual. Most sources agree that, upon learning of the loss of Mike Townsend, Duende had a difficult time handling the news. Outwardly, Duende did his best to take the swap in stride, welcoming Jaylen Hotdogfingers back to the team.

When the series of deaths that would become known as Ruby Tuesday occurred at the unwitting hands of Hotdogfingers, Duende disappeared for several hours and was unavailable for comment. Duende refused to comment beyond a terse "The gods will pay…" These events, accompanied with the following seasons of rapid roster changes marked the start of a decline in Duende's personal life.

Season 8 saw Hotdogfingers's debt become refinanced, causing her to hit players with a Flickering status instead of the deadly Unstable. This was initially a relief to Duende in particular, as the team wouldn’t be responsible for the deaths of any other players. However, this relief was short lived, as the effects of Flickering were felt throughout the season. Duende wouldn’t feel the sting of loss quite as hard until day 56, when team member and close friend Allison Abbott was feedbacked to the Dallas Steaks for Paula Mason. Not even a shared interest in metal music could convince Duende to befriend Mason, and he began to make himself scarce after matches.

After being eliminated from the postseason, an interviewer sat down with Duende to ask about the many swaps. Duende was notably frazzled, his hair unkempt. He was quoted saying, "A lot has happened this season, we've had quite the shakeup. We’ve gotten an android, a cat girl, a duck, a metal grandma, a dryad, and now, a horse. This... this may as well happen. Anyone can be a garage, and we’ll make everyone feel at home here. It’s just… it’s a lot." When asked if he blamed Hotdogfingers for the events of the season, Duende simply shook his head and ended the interview.

The death of Ron Monstera during the Season 8 elections seemed to seal Duende's fate. Duende was notably distant during Season 9, opting to spend most of his time practicing alone.

During the Grand Siesta, player Sparks Beans found a demo of the song "At the End of the Day" while working on something in the Big Garage. Beans brought it to the team, worried that this was a cry for help from their captain, and the team staged an intervention for Duende shortly thereafter.

Intervention (Grand Siesta)

The team sat Duende down and informed him of their worry for his well being, insisting on letting them help him with his captain duties. Oliver Notarobot took up the paperwork, Quack Enjoyable agreed to handle PR, and Tot Clark offered to help organize with the other teams, among other things. Not fully willing to let go, the team agreed he was allowed to keep the title of Captain, so long as he promised to communicate with the others. Oliver Mueller was quoted saying “No second chair goes both ways, dude.”

Post Captaincy (Post-Season 11 to Present Season 12)

Following his agreement to seek counseling and removing himself from the full responsibilities of team captain, Duende has slowly but surely made steps towards recovering his own life and goals outside of the team and Blaseball. He and Paula Turnip organized a hiking club, Duende taking to researching local trails. Additionally, Duende approached Mueller, hoping to learn how to skate. Duende and Mueller were cited to have a particularly strained relationship throughout the seasons, so it is speculated this was an attempt by Duende to repair their relationship. Mueller agreed happily and Duende can often be found holding onto Mueller for dear life during most of their lessons.

Limiter: RELEASED

During Season 10, Duende gained the Spicy attribute after sampling some of Terrell Bradley's special sauce. This awakened a previously dormant Duende power that allows him to shout with such a force as to push things away. Duende learned to harness this off the field when performing, and formed a heavy metal band with team member Goodwin Morin. Earplugs are mandatory at all concerts.

Trivia

• Duende experiences a rare form of synesthesia in which he can taste an opponent's pitching style. In one interview he likened Elvis Figueroa to a rich beef Wellington and Hiroto Wilcox to a slightly overdone cinnamon whirl.
• Duende plays the mallets, and has managed to find a way to incorporate this into his metal band.
