What's the system for representing marked out passages? Going by actual character length seems to make them look a little long.

The best method would be to use a combination of Template:Redacted and Template:RedactMulti (depending on if there are more than one redacted word in a row), which allow entering of the character counts of the redacted words (as well as alt text, as needed).
