Vibes section overhaul

1
VentingNonsense (talkcontribs)

I've elected to move much of the content of the Vibes section into the team's associated Fan Culture page. This is partially to isolate fan works from the main content of the page, partially because we have an empty Fan Culture page and I wanted to fill it, and partially because I wanted to remove certain elements from the page that I felt didn't really fit the team's vibes anymore. If there are any changes I shouldn't have made, please, let me know and I can work on re-implementing it. I'm going for a faster editing cycle than the usual but only because the new season just finished and I'm overly energetic from the return of blaseball.

Mildly concerned about the sponsorship subsection basically just being drinks and something about TGI Fridays, are these really necessary for team culture? I get that we have a lot of sentient drinks as players but I'm not sure if we should condone promoting, like, any of these drinks. (Why Sunny D of all things? Why Mountain Dew?) Do we need this subsection at all? It doesn't seem to fill any particular need on the page.

I think these were from what I'll call "the York Silk days" - when a lot of the early Discipline Era Fridays humor was centered around having kiddie and gamer stuff around. They don't really add a lot though, I think if no one disagrees then it's fine to just remove it. An alternate reframing could be that these companies reached out to sponsor the Fridays but were rejected, if that would be more interesting.

Based on feedback, I've gone ahead and removed the sponsorship content from the page. If we want to keep it, we can simply move the content to another page (historical fan content page, maybe?)

Here's your jumping off point for Gnome Lore.

Imagine a beachy looking lawn gnome with a surfboard here. Nobody on the team claims ownership of the gnome, it just happens to appear in someone's duffel bag or in a locker on occasion. Whoever presently is in possession of the gnome endeavors to pass it off to someone else on the team by secreting it in among their things without getting caught.

During NaN's brief Fridays tenure, the gnome found its way into NaN's locker after their first game, and never left. Whether no one explained the tradition, or whether NaN simply enjoyed having a gnome friend, is still unclear.

Sometimes it simply turns up. In the middle of a game, while players are out swimming, that one time it replaced Winner's weights half way through a workout. No one could ever quite remember the exact moment it appeared and none of the players admitted to doing it, certainly not Harrell, who was having way too much fun.
