History

Career with the Houston Spies

Prior to joining the Houston Spies' blaseball team, Jomgy Rolsenthal worked for the Agency in numerous different positions, both in the field and behind the scenes. Though widely recognized as a competent and dedicated agent, Rolsenthal was best known for their almost supernaturally terrible luck. Around her, equipment malfunctioned, crucial dossiers were lost to coffee stains or data corruption, power cut out at exactly the wrong moment, buses were late, and bad weather blew in at the most inconvenient times. Rolsenthal’s constantly broken glasses and bandages from assorted minor lab accidents were a testament to their unique tendency to attract misfortune. The Agency devoted no small amount of time to researching the nature of Rolsenthal’s bad luck, but never found a satisfying explanation.

However, Rolsenthal persevered, undeterred by these routine brushes with misfortune. A talented engineer, she had a hand in the design of many of the Agency’s spy gadgets, under the mentorship of Mohammed Picklestein. (A good spy gadget, Rolsenthal liked to point out, could be relied on to work the way you designed it, even when good luck didn't hold out). Over the course of the many different jobs she held at the Agency, she also gained an extensive knowledge of An Undisclosed Location’s labyrinthine passageways.

Rolsenthal was reportedly surprised to be called up to the Spies’ batting lineup following the incineration of Son Scotch, having been placed on the reserve list in the first place as the result of a paperwork snafu. However, employing their preferred strategy of “just kind of rolling with it,” Rolsenthal soon discovered a hitherto unsuspected talent for athletics. In short order, she bonded closely with the team, becoming especially close with two of the Spies’ other “rookies,” Becker Solis and Emmett Tabby. In their off hours, Rolsenthal, Solis, and Alexandria Rosales formed a team that regularly took part in roller derby competitions in the Houston area.

Following the installation of grind rails at a number of ILB stadiums, Rolsenthal discovered a considerable talent for skateboard tricks, quickly rising to the top of the League’s rankings. In a game against the Miami Dale late in season 15, Rolsenthal skated into the wrong dugout, switching places with Avila Guzman. Though the event was initially taken for another example of Rolsenthal’s habitual misfortune, some have since come to suspect that the exchange was part of a pre-arranged plan, for reasons that have yet to be made known.

Formally, the Spies disclaim any knowledge of Rolsenthal’s current whereabouts or actions, in keeping with Agency policy. According to sources close to the team, however, the Spies remain very proud of their deep cover agent, making an effort to stay in touch through an intricate system of dead drops, coded messages, and other classified means.
