Origins

Maldonado was born amongst the stars as a Celestial. However, her bratty and rebellious nature had upset the other Celestials, who had felt she wasn't worthy to live amongst them. Maldonado had her wings clipped and was banished to Earth, where she was immediately drafted to the Miami Dale as a divine punishment.

Incineration

It is believed that the power bestowed to the Umpires by the opening of The Forbidden Book allowed the Umpires to achieve some sort of divine connection. Therefore, it has been theorized that the Umpires shared the same distaste for Maldonado as the other Celestials had, which then became the motive for her incineration. The team adopted the phrase "We Play For Jenna" in the hopes that one day, there will be a similar divine intervention that would bring Maldonado back.
