COMMUNITY REPORTS
The remainder of this article contains lore created collaboratively by the Blaseball community.

Origins

The first reports of Emmett Tabby are about its beginnings within a crime family - though Tabby left due to circumstances that remain heavily classified. Tabby never truly cleaned its paws of its old lifestyle, however. Its reputation as a catperson con-artist precedes itself. The victims it swindles are the wealthiest among the League, and with every successful scam comes vast donations to fundraisers and charities, no matter how obscure.

Tabby claims that it doesn’t have morals - or at least that it doesn’t care about them - though Tabby’s actions make its apparent obligation to help people incredibly clear. When an anonymous donation to a hospital fundraiser was found to be Tabby’s by a nosy journalist, it stated that the purpose of that donation was “reputation maintenance” and that “the generous are more likely to be entrusted with secrets.” One wonders how anonymity could improve one’s reputation, but Tabby refused to elaborate further.

Reports explaining how Tabby joined the Spies are contradictory and vague. Most of its fans and teammates assume that Tabby is on the run from its old family. What is certain is that Tabby has been in the Spies’ Shadows since the return of Blaseball, working on criminal projects and contributing to Houston’s community.

Finally Pitching

Tabby was called to pitch during the Season 13 elections. After spending so long in the shadows, Tabby revealed that it finally wanted to make a public name for itself in the community it spent years working to improve. Similarly, it noted that the fans always notice when a Blaseball player goes missing, especially when it comes to family. Being part of the rotation secured its role as a true spy.

Eventually, Tabby developed a close and surprisingly public relationship with Jomgy Rolsenthal and Becker Solis. These three contrasted with the mysterious and distant image of the Spies: while the majority of agents either don’t disclose or don’t know how to approach mutually-shared feelings, the trio weren’t going to allow themselves to remain behind the Spies’ facade. During most of Tabby’s pitching career, the three of them were inseparable.

However, the game of Blaseball caught up with both Tabby’s pitching career and relationships before long. Rolsenthal was caught in a Feedback swap that sent her to the Dale; Solis was sent to the Shadows after a damaging consumer attack. Tabby had no such misfortune, and was merely unable to keep up with the increasingly competitive pitching of the League.

Select sources claim that falling behind was another one of its schemes. Tabby pitched until the Fax Machine sent it back to the Shadows, possibly to be reunited with Solis.
