History

Alx Keming is an older person of Chinese heritage with a kind soul and a warm, inviting smile. Keming is mute and knows a variety of sign languages including Chinese Sign Language, Auslan, and American Sign Language. Ve is a seeker of knowledge through both books and exploration and ve worked as a teacher at numerous education institutions before taking time away from vis career to see where vis search for knowledge would take vir. While traveling, ve was swept Elsewhere.

While lost in Elsewhere, Keming took the opportunity to study and explore this unknown region. Ve suspects that vis name was different before vis time in Elsewhere, but ve cannot confirm this suspicion. Keming does not know how long ve was in Elsewhere. Even after returning from Elsewhere, a part of Keming misses it and the mysteries within. Ve gathers all the research ve can on the subject-- anything from old tomes to in-person accounts, and even tangentially-related, surreal documentaries.

Career with the Shoe Thieves

One day while still stuck in Elsewhere, Keming came across Hotbox Sato, who had been lost for days trying to return to its team. Ve decided to use vis collected knowledge of Elsewhere to help Sato return home. The two journeyed together and eventually found their way to a Charleston. Keming enjoyed vis time talking with Sato about blaseball and the Shoe Thieves on their way to bring Sato home. Ve has always found the splort fascinating, having studied its ancient, historical records at great length.

When they arrived in Charleston, Keming was excited to stay a day and watch the Shoe Thieves’ next game. At that game, the first after its return from Elsewhere, Sato was incinerated by a rogue umpire. After watching that tragedy and the team’s reaction, Keming was overwhelmed by the feeling that this was where ve was supposed to be. As ve realized this, ve suddenly found virself at the plate, dressed in a Shoe Thief uniform.

After joining the team, Keming continued vis research into Elsewhere as well as the Nature of Blaseball and the Entities that govern it with fellow Shoe Thief Fitzgerald Wanderlust. There have also been reports that ve was seen assisting Tillman Henderson with pitching practice: the first time Henderson had been seen practicing according to several splorts reporters. It is also rumored that there was some tension with pitcher Snyder Briggs, likely due to their romantic relationship with Sato prior to its death.
